I purchased the coat in the dark blue color and with the button-in liner three weeks ago and have worn it half a dozen times or more in windy/rainy weather ranging from the upper 30's F to mid-50's F. The coat is cut full and is long enough that you can wear it over a blazer, and the waxed cotton gives it a dressy look. There are handwarmer pockets at the sides as well as a zip pocket on the front for your wallet. I would consider it a three-season coat, since it doesn't provide enough warmth to be worn in sub-freezing weather. All in all, I'm very pleased with the look and feel.
I like the jacket, but the workmanship is third rate,

I've had a Barbour Cheviot since 2005, and I wear it frequently. It is well-insulated, it has lots of pockets (including well-placed hand warming pockets) and does a good job of blocking the wind.
The reason I don't give it a rating that reflects the above description is because I've had several occasions where stitching has ripped during normal use. Three pockets (one twice) and the zipper. For a coat the price of which exceeds $400, you shouldn't have to have take it to the repair shop every year.
Perhaps most frustrating is the fact that Barbour will not stand behind their product - they will repair the coat for a price, and it takes weeks for them to get the coat back to you.
I've had North Face jackets that have stood up far better under more extreme use.
