Product Review

Keep the cold at bay with Carhartt's sandstone Sierra jacket. For warmth, it features sherpa lining in the body and hood, while the sleeves are lined in quilted nylon. It's built tough with 12-ounce, 100% cotton sandstone duck. Rib-knit storm cuffs help keep the cold out. There are two interior pockets, two exterior pockets, and a left-chest pocket that zips shut. The main seams are triple-stitched for extra strength, and the bi-swing back design and pleated elbows add comfort.*12-ounce, heavyweight, ight, 100% cotton sandstone duck

This jacket is great. I love it. I recommend not buying one on-line until you have tried one on in person. The sizes in the different products are different. For example in the "active jac" the M is super huge and the small is perfect, while in the "sierra" the small is too small and the M is perfect. Most stores don't carry anything smaller then L, so finding one in a store is nearly impossible. After going to many stores I finally found examples of every size, although in bizarre or undesirable colors, which gave me confidence to buy one on-line.

I needed a warm, well made coat for the winters in North Florida. I know, I know...you say it doesn't get cold in North Florida. Well, it was 21 degrees the other morning! Anyways, on to the review.

I've always heard that Carhartt clothing was built to survive damn near anything and warm as well. After researching many coats with so-called 'techno' features I decided on the Sierra Jacket. I couldn't be more happy.

Even though the jacket is made in Mexico, Carhartt keeps their quality control in line. The stitching and seams are top-rate. The 'duck' material is very stiff and quite resistant to the elements. The two interior pockets are a nice feature. One pocket has a velcro closure and the other has a zipper. The interior of the jacket, as well as the hood are sherpa lined. Sherpa is a synthetic wool type material to keep in warmth. The jacket is very warm and quite comfy.

One feature that really impressed me is the size of the outer zipper pull...Read more

My mother ordered this as an early christmas present for me. I ordered a medium dark brown regular. I was a little unsure and whether or not to get a large, because I'm a male 6'0 160lbs and had never tried a carhartt on except for my brother's XXL. But from past jackets I've owned, large was always too big, so I went with my gut, and boy did I get it right! This jacket fits like it was taylor made for me. It's just snug enough, but also enough room for a sweatshirt underneath. The sleave length is perfect. The jacket, I think, is pretty good looking, the dark brown with the brass (or at least what looks like brass) zippers look great. The jacket goes down right where it should be, not being too long feeling like you're wearing a dress, and not so short it looks like your wearing baby clothes. Aside from just looks, it's incredibly warm. You probably won't need a sweatshirt underneath unless you're in anything colder than 10 degrees farenheit. This jacket will keep your warm...Read more
