How can a three-layer waterproof breathable shell like the Columbia MenAAAs Peak 2 Peak Jacket weigh only 14 ounces? When it features the new Columbia Omni-Dry membrane, 50% of which is air. All that space in the membrane not only means that it barely tips the scales, but it also makes this jacket ultra-breathable for supreme comfort during high-energy outdoor adventures. While all the moisture your perspiration generates makes itself scarce, any rain or snow trying to work its way in is blocked by the waterproof fabric and fully taped seams.

The Peak 2 Peak Jacket was honored by Outside Magazine with a 2011 Gear of the Year award.
Lightweight and proficient in any high-alpine situation, the Peak 2 Peak Jacket sports an innovative three-layer fabric that's completely waterproof, windproof, and ultrabreathable. Clean, thoughtfully engineered lines provide a striking framework for the technology inside this jacket--a sleek interior with a bonded liner, fully taped seams, and Omni-Dry, an extremely air-permeable waterproof fabric that diffuses the moisture vapors you generate while still shedding water in the worst of conditions. For times when your heart rate is really in the red, zip open the aptly placed underarm vents and let the fresh air flow in. Articulated elbows provide a natural fit and superior mobility. Hand pockets and a security pocket at left shoulder are all but invisible thanks to our Invizzip technology.

Columbia's most breathable waterproof technology, Omni-Dry is designed to keep you dry during highly aerobic activity, whatever the weather. This extremely air permeable waterproof fabric transfers the moisture vapors you generate out of the garment at an extremely high rate, while still shedding the elements in the worst conditions. Omni-Dry is the ultimate in waterproof technology for the outdoors. During physical activity, increased body temperature can cause perspiration. In garments with low breathability, this results in condensation causing the wearer to feel damp, clammy or even wet. This is often mistaken for leaky or faulty construction, and is always uncomfortable. With Omni-Dry, air is able to circulate through the fabric, helping to regulate the conditions in the garment and keep excess moisture from collecting inside, while still maintaining its wind blocking properties. This is achievable because the Omni-Dry membrane is highly air permeable and extremely thin and lightweight.

Omni-Dry technology ensures waterproof breathable protection from the elements.

I recently purchased this jacket from Columbia. I'm a fan of Columbia gear, and have always found that their gear suits me well. I purchased XL size (blue), and it weighs around 17 oz (500g). It packs into its own hood. I love the colour although my wife does not! Its a very bright and hopefully a safe colour as a result. Its extremely comfortable, and breathable. I wore it on public transport, in the car, and walking carrying a backpack in warm but wet conditions, and in all cases didn't feel any additional heat built up that I normally felt when wearing my old jacket. The main zip doesn't work without holding one side in place (the side which does not contain the moving zipper part). The hood fits well with all the adjustments that you can make. I used the three pockets with my camera, wallet and phone. With the phone in the arm pocket, I sometimes needed to adjust the position to prevent it restricting my arm movement. Looking forward to many more adventures with the...Read more
