Jacket is well made. I've already used it for 6 straight rain days riding my BMW motorcycle and never had a leakage or wind issue. There is a thin liner in it to keep in warmth, which makes it a bit warm riding in hot weather. There are a couple of vent holes which unzip but don't do a whole lot. It is particularly good if the weather is a tad on the slightly chilly side or colder.

If it doesn't leak when wind from riding pelts the water on you, it should certainly be good walking around (which I also found to be the case). The hood can be rolled up out of the way very nicely and is like a thick-ish collar when you do that (but not bulky). Otherwise the hood works well as a head covering. When rolled up wind from riding does not undo it, and it's nice not to have the hood flopping in the wind or tucked inside a helmet. The jacket is nice looking and attractive. This was well worth the purchase, just realize it's not necessarily what you want to be exercising particularly...Read more

This is a REALLY NICE** jacket. Stylish, warm, dry. But the fit is terrible. I am a skinny guy. So I ordered the small, then the medium and neither one fits me well.

The small fit very nicely as long as I don't sit down in it. With the small The waist is VERY tight and I am completely unable to sit down in it without having to pull it up over my midsection. The medium was fine at the waist (I could sit in it) but much too large (read linebacker build) everywhere else with really long sleeves. Who does Columbia size these jackets for? Creatures who are built with broad shoulders, long arms and thin waist exist only in Football. Not on mainstreet.

Bottom line. I wish I could find this Thermo material jacket in a size that actually works for me. But alas. It's not possible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Raintech fatal flaw, October 9, 2011

The sizing on this jacket does not allow for wearing a layer underneath, unless you are at the lower end of the size range, and the the items you want to layer under it are thin.
The raintech jacket has only a one-way zipper, so you cannot sit without pulling and bunching up the jacket,
completely unzipping it, and closing with the velcro only. That is unacceptable as a design flaw and unacceptable as a cost-cutting measure.
The color, on the compass blue, is closer to a light teal than any shade of medium blue.
