Product Review

The valency bond parka features columbia's 3-in-1 interchange system, this gives you the option to wear it three ways - as a heavy weight layered parka, as a lightly insulated shell or as just the quilted nylon liner as jacket, the outershell offers omni-shield water and stain resistant protection, additional features include a removable hood, goggle pocket, and media pocket

Nice looking jacket, but the description is somewhat misleading. It says there's a "Zip in and 3-point interchange system" which leads one to believe that the shell and liner attach with a zipper -- similar to the Columbia Bugaboo and other Columbia parkas. When the shell and liner are attached, you only need to zip ONE zipper to open and close the parka.

But the Valency Bond does NOT have this feature. The shell and liner have their own independent zippers, so if you're wearing them both together, you have to zip them both up (or unzip them both down) separately. The photos didn't make this clear, so I was disappointed when it arrived.

Otherwise, I liked the look, the colors and the price. But this one downfall would have annoyed me for years to come. Guess I'll be back to the Bugaboo.
