My wife and I bought these to wear on a cruise to Alaska in mid-June. They were the perfect solution for that purpose. They kept us dry during the frequent rains -- we were told that the Summer forecast EVERY DAY was "cloudy with rain expected". The coat is not heavy and was plenty warm for the 55 to 65 temperatures. Our intent was to layer a sweater underneath if it was colder, but that was unnecessary.
So we would say the coat was perfect for our needs. We had no problem with zippers (at all). The quality and construction of the coat was much better than expected (based on some other semi-negative reviews); the quality left nothing to be desired.
All in all if we had it to do again (purchasing this coat), we'd do it again -- in a heartbeat:) Great coat !
