Product Review

The Mens Mountain Hardwear Downtown Coat keeps out the bitter cold and keeps in the warmth whether you're traveling abroad in colder climates or just walking down your own snow covered street. With its Dry.Q shell and Microfiber Nylon Insulation, the Downtown Coat is fully waterproof and breathable to protect you from the elements. An extra long cut gives the Downtown fuller coverage, which not only keeps more of you warm, but provides a great style. The hood of the Downtown Coat provides full coverage, and zips off when you don't want it hanging around. No matter what you're doing, you can carry along your own soundtrack by placing an MP3 player in its own interior pocket, and use the earpiece cord exit to take a listen. Another interior pocket zips close to securely hold your essentials, and hand pockets on the front of the Downtown Coat are fleece lined to warm your hands. Sizing (Chest):  S: 36-38", M: 39-41", L: 42-45", XL: 46-49".

I love this jacket and it definitely kept me warm last winter. My only "beef" with the jacket is that is has to be treated with a special product after you wash it in order to be water resistant. So, you might want to consider some sort of Gore-Tex (or other similar product) if you want a jacket that has less maintenance issues.

Keeps you warm in cold weather (tested in 20 degrees with wind and snow) but too warm for being active. A walk in the city is perfect. A walk in the woods is not.

I just moved to Chicago from NYC and am already enduring a below-than-normal December. It averaged around 20 degrees for high temps last week. And I have to say this coat has been great. It really keeps you warm and toasty, I feel myself getting pretty warm if I'm taking a brisk walk. And I can easily get by wearing just a t-shirt, no sweaters necessary! I think some of the best features are as follows:

- Lightweight: It's really amazing how little weight this coat carries. I tried on a North Face parka before I got this and I realized why it was so warm - the NF parka must have weighted 10 pounds. It was exhausting lugging it around. The Mountain Hardware Downtown coat is not heavy at all.

- Really Warm Hood: The detachable hood is lined with down and the drawstring pulls it down nicely. Keeps your head nice and warm - remember that you lose a lot of heat from your noggin!

- Fleece-lined Pockets: Your hands feel snug as bug in the pockets. You almost...Read more
