4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this jacket, June 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this for a light jacket or base layer under a heavier jacket. Love the look and feel of this jacket, I get lots of compliments and inquiries when I wear it. The exterior is buttery soft and smooth, no signs of fading yet, though I rarely have to wash it, you can just wipe off the exterior with a damp cloth. Deep front side pockets with zippers, large mesh inner right pocket for gloves/phone, draw cords on each side at the bottom and behind the neck. There is slight tapering and light elastic in the cuffs of the wrists. The chest pocket is really small, good luck getting a bigger cell phone in there (maybe). My ipod touch (in a hard case) fits with about 1/4 inch to spare at the top and not much room for anything else. Fine for some lip balm, keys, other small items. I'm 5-9 and the large extends about 6" below my waist. The rest of the jacket is very roomy on me, and the arm length still has room to spare but you can't tell due to the fabric consistency. I think it...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great everyday jacket, April 3, 2010

If you need a lightweight, all-purpose, everyday jacket, this will do everything you need it to. It's great to wear in the rain (no hood, but you already knew that), blocks wind and keeps you very warm under most conditions.

It's stylish and fits well (if you're torn on sizes, go for the larger one) and is lightweight enough to use if you're going to be active. It's also really well made, and will take some abuse if you're going to be using it while hiking or camping.

I wouldn't use it as a winter jacket, but it's great for spring and fall, and breathes well enough so you can wear it on a rainy summer day without getting too hot. Just know that this is a jacket and not a fleece, but it's still a great product that does everything you could hope it could.

Nothing but good things to say about the G50.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks really sharp, but not meant for cold., November 6, 2009

This review is from: Mountain Hardwear G50 Jacket (Spring 2010) - Men's (Apparel)
I live in Central New York, where we typically get a lot of snow and cold weather. This jacket is perfect for 40-50 degree(Fahrenheit) weather, but I don't know how they possibly think it could provide warmth in any weather cold enough to produce ice or snow! You would definitely need a substantial under-layer for warmth below 35 degrees with this jacket......and if you're going to wear an under-layer, then why not just buy a jacket with a light down fill or polar-fleece lining??? On the plus side, it is a very stylish jacket, and I've received a whole host of compliments for it.
