Product Description
The dependable standard in outdoor insulation, the classic Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket for men is as essential as a reliable mountaineering rope. A four-season mountaineering shelter can save you from the elements and a -40F rated sleeping bag can provide adequate warmth, but it's your outerwear that's going to protect and insulate you all the way back to civilization, which is why this 650-fill down Sub Zero Jacket is an essential fit for extended climbs and backcountry skiing adventures. You'll find reinforcement fabric along the shoulder and arm in key abrasion areas and external fleece lined pockets to warm your digits and quickly stow some gear. This is expedition-quality protection for severe winter weather and high altitude conditions.

Summary: Very good buy 2008-12-02
Comment: I bought this jacket after the weather got below 15 degrees before Halloween in preparation for what is looking to be a pretty brutal winter in Western North Carolina. I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a lightweight down jacket for backpacking and hiking. The outer-shell seems a bit flimsy for everyday use, and I'm constantly making sure I don't snag it against anything when I'm wearing it around town. It comes with a handy stuff-sack and packs fairly small, making it ideal for those who want to bring something along on backpacking trips in case the temperature drops. I wouldn't say that this is an end-all high performance jacket, as I'm sure that if the temperature dropped much below zero it would quickly lose effectiveness. However, if you live in the 48 continental states, this make for an excellent choice for winter use when the thermometer drops below 32. However, those planning Alaskan or Siberian sojourns make want to spend more on something a bit more rugged and proven.
